Summary: Healthy range of spinal motion is displayed. Disc height is lost over time due to age or injury. Increased contact with endplates causes bone spurs to form. Decreased disc height results in less space for the nerve roots. Combined with increased lateral motion, this condition causes nerve root irritation. Pain is manifested in back and legs as sciatica. Discectomy is performed. Disc material and other debris is removed. Endplates are prepared and distractor is inserted. Endplates are debrided and two spaced implants are sequentially installed.
